Albums
Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their previous albums, and was criticised for the absence of hit singles. In 1985, singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group, and the group held auditions for a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old demos and tapes to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto began the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live album titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour and an interview with the band.

Toto has released a number of music videos. The group has released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. The band's most popular video is "Africa" which has more than one billion views. The video is set in a library where the band performs on top of a stack of African books.
The song "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. It was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge success in Europe and a variety of other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their fame following their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.
Toto began a global tour following the release of their album. The group featured touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. In addition guitarist Steve Lukather released his second solo album, Luke.
In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, left the group due to personal reasons. The group decided to conduct an audition and eventually selected Joseph Williams to replace Frederiksen.
Before and during the formation of Toto the members performed session work for a variety of artists. Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate were on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs, which led to Toto's formation. Paich played keyboards on Steely Dan's records, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto began working on a special project called Old Is New. The album featured three new tracks as well as several recordings of older songs. The album became a huge success and the band embarked on a tour to promote the album.

Toto known for the hit song "Africa", recently joined forces to promote their upcoming album, All In. The album, which was released on the 6th of November, 2018 included three new tracks from their forthcoming album 40 Trips Around the Sun as also completed recordings of four older tracks with Jeff Porcaro playing drums and Mike or Steve Porcaro playing bass. The album also included the cover version of Weezer's track "Hash Pipe," which the band re-released after hearing it on the radio.
